When I played school’boy rugby, many years ago, the rules were simple.

Physically subdue the opponents, run and score tries.

Now there are so many technical laws that often, when the whistle blows, I don’t know what the infringement was. I wonder how many of the players on the field know ?

These new laws are intended to promote more ‘running’ and less ‘mauling’.

In practise, they just cause more whistle-blowing and game stoppages.

They also give the referee too much influence on the eventual outcome of a match.

Well done to Tiger Woods for having admitted to falling for sexual temptations and for seeking redemption.

Star sportsmen are often confronted by seductive good-looking girls.

It is very difficult for a man with testosterone pumping to say no.

Well done to those who resist.

I am not really a great gardener. I do not grow roses or daisies or anything of that nature.

What I do grow is rewarding plants.

I walked through my garden a few minutes ago and was extremely pleased.

The avo tree, the pear tree, the fig tree, the tomato plants, are full and ready for picking. (The lemon tree is struggling, I don’t know why yet.)

I sense a difference here between rich people and the  ”supposedly, previously disadvantaged people, read blacks. ”

In South Africa at the present time, Blacks have a mindset of  ‘You owe me ‘ so just  ’Give’ me everything’.

They are wrong and they will remain poor foreverafter because of that mindset.

I sense that I am rambling but, essentially, you can only take out what you have put in.

Jacob Zuma has admitted to being the father of child number 20, out of wedlock.

There are rumours of many more undisclosed siblings, God knows how many more.

How can this 67-year old sex addict still be our President and claim immunity on the basis of “Culture” and “Privacy”?

What Culture ?  To make as many babies with as many women as possible ? That is disgusting .

What Privacy ? He is the President and everything he does or says is open to public scrutiny and criticism.

He is a disgrace and should be booted out.

Any ANC member who still supports him is blind to the facts.

Day 2 of a 5-day cricket Test Match is in progress in India.

South Africa, batting first, have just now reached 452 for 3 and are looking strong.

However, on a slow pitch like this, the most likely outcome after 5-days is a draw, (unless the pitch starts to break up).

An observable fact is the paucity of spectators, this in a country that regards cricket as the number one National sport.

It is the same country that is actively promoting Twenty-20 cricket and turning it into a multi-million dollar crowd-pleasing spectacle.

Is that the reason why 5-day cricket is falling out of favour as a spectator sport ?

What a pity !

Faster pitches would be more conducive to Win/Lose results, rather than dull Draws.

About 2-hours ago, our electricity supply went off for reasons that I don’t know.

It is back on now and serves as a reminder about how dependant we are.

I couldn’t cook my supper

I couldn’t water my garden using the borehole.

I couldn’t look at my favourite TV programme.

I couldn’t check out the latest stock market prices.

I couldn’t write any “Ron’s Thoughts.”

“Damn” are we really so dependant ?
